The NASA Planetary Defense Coordination Office, in partnership with the FEMA Response Directorate and Department of State Office of Space Affairs, respectfully invites you to attend the 5th Planetary Defense USA Interagency Tabletop Exercise (PD TTX5). The two-day exercise will be 2 – 3 April 2024*, with participation from senior U.S. government officials and international representatives. The exercise will discuss collaborative and international response to a hypothetical asteroid impact threat and assess preparedness for a threat scenario that could have global consequences.This event will be held in-person and hosted by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, with a virtual participation option as needed. There is no registration cost to attend this event, but participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and per diem expenses. Space is limited and attendees will be by invitation only.
A preliminary readahead document is available here that contains information on the exercise scenario, an outline of the agenda, questions for players to consider as they prepare for the exercise, and links to additional information. Further background material on planetary defense and this TTX will be sent to participants on or around 25 March 2024.

PD TTX5 is hosted by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), with technical contributions from several NASA centers (Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Ames Research Center (ARC), and Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC)) and DOE National Laboratories (Lawrence Livermore (LLNL), Los Alamos (LANL) and Sandia (SNL)).
